Discover Creativity at The Craft Room

A Haven for Makers at Lost Dutchman's Stanton Camp

Tucked away in the heart of Lost Dutchman’s Stanton Camp lies a treasure trove of creativity and community—the Craft Room. What began in a modest 13’ x 18’ space on the side of the old jail has blossomed into a vibrant hub for crafting enthusiasts. From its humble beginnings with a class on pop bottle wind fish that drew 13 people into a cramped space, the Craft Room has evolved significantly. Now housed in the spacious Wells Fargo building, it stands as a testament to the camp's commitment to fostering creativity and camaraderie among its visitors and residents.

A Diverse Array of Crafting Classes

The Craft Room's journey from a small corner of the camp to its current home has been marked by an expanding variety of craft classes. Participants have had the pleasure of creating sock gnomes, exploring the colorful world of dump paints, crafting ocotillo rock cacti, and expressing their style with tie-dye t-shirts. The list of activities is as diverse as it is engaging, including paracord braiding, leather weaving, hat making, alcohol ink tiles, and so much more. Each class is designed to offer a hands-on experience, allowing participants to dive into new skills or hone existing ones in a supportive and fun environment.

Accessible and Affordable for All

With most classes requiring just a $5 fee, which includes all materials, the Craft Room ensures that creativity is accessible to everyone. This nominal fee encourages participation and allows for a wide range of projects to be explored without financial burden. Moreover, for those who wish to craft additional items for donation, the fee is waived, promoting a spirit of generosity and community support.

Future Endeavors and Expanding Workshops

Looking ahead, the Craft Room continues to innovate with plans for classes in rope bowls, glass etching, tiki dolls, boot jacks, glass cutting, leather works, and glass beach chimes. This forward-thinking approach ensures that the offerings remain fresh and relevant, catering to the evolving interests and skills of the crafting community.

Equipped for Creativity

Thanks to the generous support of donors and the proceeds from classes, the Craft Room is exceptionally well-equipped. An impressive array of crafting tools—including a scroll saw, drill press router, grinder dremel tool, glass cutter, wood burner, circular saw, sander, sewing machines, cricket machines, glue guns, and even a propane heater—ensures that the possibilities for creation are virtually limitless.

A Testament to Community and Creativity

The success of the Craft Room at Lost Dutchman’s Stanton Camp is a testament to the power of community and creativity. It's a place where individuals can come together to learn, create, and share in the joy of making. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a curious beginner, the Craft Room offers a welcoming space to explore your creative passions.

As the Craft Room continues to grow and evolve, it remains a cherished part of the Lost Dutchman’s Stanton Camp experience. It stands as a beacon of creativity, inviting all who visit to take part in the joy of crafting, learn something new, and perhaps, leave with a handmade treasure of their own.
